Choose a cloudy day or plant late in the day to minimize water loss and shock. 4. Soak the plants in the flats with a water soluable fertilizer about an hour before transplanting them. 5. Make sure that all necessary tools are in place and that all holes have been dug prior to removing the seedlings. 6. Make sure that plants are kept moist to prevent moisture stress. 7. If you have an edible garden, taste the flowers before harvesting. Different areas and soils will produce different tastes. 8. Utilize the picked flowers in your meals the same day they are picked. 9. Harvest the flowers in the cool of the morning after the dew has dried. 10. Wash all flower petals thoroughly, dry between layers of paper towels and place in refrigerator until ready to use. 11. Discard other parts of the flowers. 12. Caution: use only organically grown flowers, not those which have been sprayed or those from florists as they have been sprayed also.
